AI Autofill

Instead of manually updating pipeline fields after every email, call, or meeting, Autofill does it for you — one field at a time or across multiple boxes at once.

Autofill scans your emails, comments, call logs, and meeting notes to suggest updates to your pipeline fields - apply them with a single click.

How Autofill works

Each autofill action has core 3 parts:

  • A Streak field (date field, dropdown, free form, etc.)

  • A custom instruction that tells the AI what to extract or classify

  • A source (Box timeline or Web research)

Custom Instructions are accessed from the Autofill option in column header:

A custom instruction tell the AI exactly how to find and enter data correctly. Setting a custom instruction is the first troubleshooting step if you are notice the autofill values are sometimes incorrect.

By default, Autofill skips fields that are already filled. Uncheck "skip filled cells" in the Autofill settings if you want it to overwrite existing data. You can also uncheck individual fields to stop Autofill from touching them entirely.

Choose a data source

Different fields need different sources. Autofill lets you configure the source per field, so it stays focused and avoids guessing.

Box timeline

Use the box timeline when the information already exists in Streak. Autofill reads emails, comments, call logs, and meeting notes to extract values you've already discussed or recorded — like a close date that came up in an email, or a budget mentioned on a call.

Web research

Use web research when the data lives outside your CRM. Streak's AI can look up publicly available information to fill fields like company industry, headcount, or lead background. Give it a clear instruction and it will find what you need.

Where to find Autofill

You can trigger Autofill from three places:

  • Pipeline view

This is where you set up Autofill. Click the dropdown arrow next to any column name and select AI Autofill to choose the data source (box timeline or web research) and write a custom instruction for that column. Once configured, you can run Autofill in bulk by selecting multiple rows or columns:

  • Box view

Inside a box, fill one field at a time using the AI icon, or select multiple fields to update them all at once. Autofill runs using the source and instructions already configured for each column in pipeline view. This works well when you’re focused on a single deal and want to pull in the latest information quickly.

  • Gmail thread view

Autofill is also available from the Streak CRM sidebar while viewing an email in Gmail. Like the box view, it runs using the source and instructions set in pipeline view. This lets you update fields without leaving your inbox — useful for capturing deal updates right as they happen.

AI credits

Autofill is charged per field updated, not per run. So if you run Autofill on a box with 3 columns, that costs 3 credits — one for each field. If those columns use web research instead of the box timeline, each one costs 5 credits, so the same 3-column run would cost 15 credits.

Credit costs at a glance:

  • Autofill from box timeline: 1 credit per field

  • Autofill with web research: 5 credits per field

FAQ

Does Autofill run automatically?

By default, Autofill only runs when you trigger it manually. You can also set it up as an action step in a Streak automation — for example, automatically populating fields whenever a new box is created or a stage changes. See AI action steps in automations.

Can I change the instructions for a column after I’ve already used Autofill?

Yes. Update the custom instruction anytime from the column dropdown in pipeline view. Future runs will use the updated instruction.

Will Autofill overwrite data I’ve already entered?

No, by default it skips filled fields. Uncheck “skip filled cells” in the Autofill settings if you want it to overwrite existing data.

Does this work for all pipeline types, not just sales?

Yes. Autofill works across any pipeline — sales, hiring, fundraising, support, or any custom workflow you’ve built in Streak.
