We've tried to keep things simple with Streak, but if there are any names or word that don't make sense, take a look at the glossary below!
The CRM Basics
Pipelines – where work is defined in Streak. Think of it like a worksheet in a spreadsheet: any workflow or process with multiple steps can live in one. Examples include sales pipelines, hiring trackers, and project management boards.
Stages – a milestone or step in a pipeline's workflow. Stages give clarity to your process and show where any item stands at a glance.
Boxes – a single item you're tracking in a pipeline. Boxes move through stages until a workflow is complete. For example, in a sales pipeline, each box might represent a deal or a prospect.
Contacts – an individual related to a box. Streak contacts are auto-enriched with data from a third-party integration to help you better understand who you're working with.
Example: Streak's sales team has a pipeline with stages that track an opportunity from Lead → Closed Won. Each prospect is a box, and each box has contacts attached to it.
Advanced Features
Magic columns – automated columns in your pipeline that save you time by extracting valuable information from data that already exists in a box like date of last email sent or number of email threads.
Formula columns – columns that calculate a value automatically using JavaScript. Streak's AI can generate the formula for you — just describe what you want in plain language.
Saved Views – a toolset that lets you filter, group, and sort your boxes into specific views. Use saved views to focus on a segment of your pipeline, like all deals assigned to you that haven't been updated this week.
Native integrations and automations - built-in connections between Streak and third-party apps that you set up directly inside Streak, without needing a tool like Zapier. When a trigger occurs, like a new Calendly booking or a Typeform submission, automations can automatically create boxes, add contacts, and populate fields. Streak natively integrates with Calendly, Typeform, Google Forms, and more.
AI features - Streak has several built-in AI tools available on Pro+ and Enterprise plans. AI Autofill automatically fills in pipeline fields by reading your box's email timeline or researching the web, AI Summaries generates an instant overview of any box including what's happened and recommended next steps, and AI Ask a Question lets you ask plain-language questions about a box and get answers pulled directly from its emails, call logs, and notes.
MCP (Model Context Protocol) - an open standard that lets AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT securely connect to external tools. Streak has its own MCP server, meaning you can connect your Streak CRM to an AI assistant and interact with your data using natural language like searching pipelines, reading box timelines, creating and updating records, and generating charts. Available at no additional cost on Pro, Pro+, and Enterprise plans.
Zapier – A service that can be used to connect and automate even more parts of Streak to other services.
